Brewmaster
Peter Burrell has been making his own beers and ales since 1985 and has been
repeatedly recognized for his skill and care. While serving as brewmaster
of Sieben’s River North Brewery in Chicago, Peter won a gold medal for
Sieben’s Bock and a silver medal for Sieben’s Barley Wine at the
1988 Great American Beer Festival.
His record of inspired craftsmanship has continued at Dempsey’s. Sonoma
Irish Ale won the gold medal in the Scottish Ale category at the 1992 Great
American Beer Festival, a performance that was followed up at the following
year’s festival by a gold medal for Ugly Dog Stout and a bronze medal
for Sonoma Irish Ale.
Closer to home, Dempsey’s brews have also seen success
in the California State Fair Commercial Brewers’ Competition. In 1995,
Sonoma Mountain Wheat won a gold medal as well as the Sweepstakes Award for
best beer in show. Red Rooster Ale and Ugly Dog Stout won bronze medals that
year as well. In 1996, Dempsey’s won a gold medal for Big River Barley
Wine.
